History of the Home
A Family Legacy Reborn
A home with history, hidden in the trees
Before it became Aeren, this home was known simply as “the cabin”—a mountain retreat lovingly cared for by one family for more than 60 years.
In 1962, the family found their dream property nestled deep within Yosemite National Park. At the time, the land held two modest cabins and was part of a small, tucked-away community. But in the years that followed, the National Park Service began purchasing neighboring lots, removing cabins to return the land to nature. This one remained—quietly preserved by its owners, who chose to hold onto what had become their sanctuary in the forest.
Over time, the family expanded and updated the home, adding rooms, a deck, and personal touches that reflected decades of summer memories—hikes to waterfalls, dinners under the stars, and songs by the fire. Friends and relatives became part of its story, helping with projects and returning year after year to the stillness only Yosemite could offer.
In 2025, the family passed the home on. The cabin—now one of very few private residences still remaining inside Yosemite—has been thoughtfully restored and renamed Aeren Yosemite. Every detail has been reimagined to honor the past while elevating the experience for a new generation: refined interiors, natural materials, and design rooted in nature.
What remains is its spirit—private, grounded, and deeply connected to place. A rare retreat inside the gates, still surrounded by nature, and now shared with those who seek rest, reconnection, and reverence for wild beauty.
